Thomas Precision Acquisition Story

Execution with Industry Insight

The Radial team has decades of experience investing in and supporting aftermarket-focused industrial businesses. Radial identified Thomas Precision as a differentiated aftermarket supplier in the food processing industry, supported by recurring customer needs, deep technical expertise, and opportunities to expand into adjacent applications.

Well before Thomas Precision contemplated a sale process, Radial developed a thesis for the protein-processing aftermarket through operator conversations, industry events, customer research, and a network of senior advisors and industry leaders with firsthand knowledge of the sector.

When the owner of Thomas Precision decided to sell, Radial already had the industry knowledge and operating resources necessary to move quickly and with conviction. Radial assembled a team with complementary industry and operating experience:

  • Tom Goeke, former CEO of Milacron and Klöckner Pentaplast, brings aftermarket-focused industrial experience.

  • Tim Schellpeper, former CEO of JBS USA and COO of Smithfield, brings protein-processing insight.

  • Tom Moser, former President at Emerson, adds operating and transition experience.

This preparation helped Radial stand out during the sale process and was a significant part of why Radial was chosen as the next owner of the business.

Thomas Precision Opportunity

Founded in 1981 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Thomas Precision grew from a small machine shop into a trusted provider of engineered replacement parts, proprietary equipment, machine rebuilds, and field service for protein and food processors.

“Over the past four decades, Thomas Precision has built its name on a commitment to quality, reliability and doing right by our customers. Partnering with Radial will provide the resources and strategic support to continue investing in our people and capabilities while preserving the values that have defined Thomas Precision for more than 40 years.”
Kevin Nyara, Former Owner & CEO, Thomas Precision

Why Thomas Precision Stood Out

  • Trusted aftermarket provider for an end market where uptime and reliability are critical.

  • Differentiated technical capabilities, including decades of experience rebuilding equipment across all major OEMs and applications.

  • Long-standing customer relationships built on responsiveness, reliability, and deep application knowledge.

  • Opportunities to expand into adjacent food-processing applications while continuing to serve core customers.

  • High-quality family-owned business with a strong legacy of supporting its customers and employees.

For Radial, these qualities pointed to a company with strong roots, trusted relationships, and meaningful room to grow with the right partner.

“Thomas Precision is a business with a strong culture, deep customer relationships and differentiated technical capabilities. We see a meaningful opportunity to build on this foundation as Thomas Precision enters its next phase of growth.”
Tom Goeke, Senior Advisor, Radial Equity Partners

Stewardship and Growth

The partnership is focused on supporting the company’s next chapter through continued investment in people, new product development, faster service, innovative technical capabilities, operational improvement, and thoughtful expansion into adjacent food-processing markets. The Thomas Precision partnership is a story about a great business built over four decades by people who cared deeply about their craft, and about finding a partner who recognized that greatness and committed to carrying it forward.

“Thomas Precision's long history of growth reflects the skill and dedication of its team. We are excited to support continued investment in the people and processes that have made the company a trusted partner to its customers.”
